UITP
International Association of Public Transport
Created in 1885, it brings together public transport stakeholders (authorities, operators, industry, academia) from all modes of sustainable transport. It has more than 1,800 members in 100 countries, which it serves from 17 offices around the world. EMT has been a member of this organisation since 1951, with an active presence and participation in the different committees and working groups.
POLIS
Cities and regions for Transport Innovation.
POLIS is the main European network for the promotion of sustainable urban mobility, with 100 member cities and regions. EMT participates in the network by collaborating in the dissemination and promotion of the sustainable mobility initiatives of both EMT and Madrid City Council abroad, favouring synergies, projects and external funding sources, with an active participation in different working groups.
EUROCITIES
This network was created in 1986 and includes more than 140 large cities in 30 countries, offering members a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, as well as favouring synergies, projects and external sources of funding. The presidency of the mobility forum of this network is currently held by Madrid City Council, with the collaboration of EMT in different working groups.
MaaS Alliance
European public-private partnership promoting an open market and full implementation of MaaS (Mobility as a Service) services. EMT is an institutional partner.
Sustainable Transport Forum
Forum consisting of experts from the 28 European States, plus a total of 32 organisations, with the aim of supporting the European Commission on Alternative Fuels Infrastructure and the Clean Energy and Transport Strategy. EMT is the only participating public road transport operator.
CIVINET Iberia
Network of Spanish and Portuguese cities and institutions promoting the European CIVITAS approach at regional level. Formed primarily by cities, they also involve other relevant local and regional stakeholders such as Urban Transport Authorities and Operators, Mobility Business Clusters, Transport and Mobility Citizen Associations, among other organisations.
CIVINET Iberia was founded at the beginning of 2023 (as a continuation of the extinct CIVINET Spain and Portugal) as a local network of CIVITAS in Spain and Portugal, whose main purpose is to promote sustainable mobility in both countries.
