In its strategic plan, the Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid (EMT) has devised a comprehensive transformation process to shape its future as a national and international benchmark in the public transport sector and, by extension, in sustainable mobility.

This strategic framework unequivocally aligns EMT with European policies regarding the environment and the fight against climate change, as well as with economic and business policies at the continental level. The projects within EMT’s transformation process address the goals set by the EU for 2050—such as achieving a climate-neutral continent and establishing principles of sustainability, digitalization, and resilience for a circular, green, and clean economy.

In this regard, EMT’s projects—focusing on areas such as ecological transformation and transition, as well as digital innovation—aim to make the company more sustainable, eco-friendly, resilient, and digital, and better adapted to the challenges of the coming years; ultimately, they seek to establish EMT as the undisputed leader in the sustainable mobility of the future.
